🎓 GPA Calculator
Quick answer
GPA is the credit-weighted average of grade points: each letter grade converts to points on the 4.0 scale (A = 4.0, B = 3.0, C = 2.0, D = 1.0, F = 0.0, with +/− steps of 0.3), each course's points are multiplied by its credit hours, and the total is divided by the total credits. GPA = Σ(points × credits) ÷ Σcredits.

Frequently asked questions
How is GPA calculated?
Convert each letter grade to points (A = 4.0, B = 3.0, and so on), multiply by the course credits, add everything up, and divide by the total credits. Three A credits and three B credits give (12 + 9) ÷ 6 = 3.50.
What is a good GPA?
On the 4.0 scale, 3.0 is a B average and generally good standing, 3.5 and above is strong, and 3.7+ is the range many honours and Dean's list programmes recognise. Requirements vary by institution.
Do failed (F) courses count in GPA?
Yes. An F earns 0.0 points but its credits still count in the divisor, which is why one F in a high-credit course lowers GPA sharply. That is why retaking a failed course can raise GPA a lot if the new grade replaces the old one.
