🔣 Base64 Encode / Decode
Quick answer
Base64 turns binary or text data into a safe ASCII string using 64 characters (A–Z, a–z, 0–9, + and /), growing the size by about 33%. This tool encodes any Unicode text correctly and can also produce the URL-safe variant that replaces + and / with - and _.

Frequently asked questions
Why does normal Base64 encoding break on emojis or Urdu text?
The classic btoa() function only accepts Latin-1 characters. This tool first converts your text to UTF-8 bytes with TextEncoder, so any language or emoji encodes correctly.
What is URL-safe Base64?
In the URL-safe variant (RFC 4648), + becomes -, / becomes _ and the = padding is usually dropped, so the string can sit inside a URL or filename without extra escaping.
Is Base64 encryption?
No. Base64 is only an encoding — anyone can decode it instantly. Never use it to hide passwords or secrets.
