Quick answer
A currency converter uses an exchange rate quoted against a common base (here the US dollar): to convert, divide the amount by the source currency's rate and multiply by the target currency's rate. Rates shown are mid-market interbank rates, updated daily; banks and money changers add a margin, so the cash rate you receive will differ slightly.

Frequently asked questions
Why is the rate here different from my bank or money changer?
This tool shows the mid-market (interbank) rate — the midpoint between buy and sell prices on global markets. Banks, cards and exchange shops add a margin or fee, so their customer rate is always a little worse. The difference is usually 0.5%–4%.
How often are the exchange rates updated?
The live rates come from the open exchange-rate API and refresh about once a day. If you are offline, the tool falls back to built-in indicative rates and labels them clearly.
What is an inverse rate?
It is the same exchange rate flipped: if 1 USD = 278 PKR, the inverse is 1 PKR = 0.0036 USD. It is useful when prices are quoted in the other currency.
